January 10, 2018 at 3:01 am

The Presidential Team initiative, led by Former President Science advisor and presidential science adviser, Essam Heggy, announced a boycott of the upcoming presidential elections, citing the governing authority’s refusal to respond to public demands.

In a statement, published on Facebook, Tuesday, the initiative said: “after looking at the list of elections which was announced yesterday, the impossible requirements included therein and the refusal of the responsible authorities to respond to repeated demands from peaceful civilian forces … all the initiative’s members decided to boycott the elections.”

In May, the Presidential Team has set 12 guarantees to run the presidential elections.

The statement added that the Presidential Team believes that the elections in their present form are no longer an opportunity for peaceful and civilized transition. It also accuses the advocates of silencing public opinion and those behind them of throwing the Egyptians’ desire for a change to the unknown.
