Opposition leader says goal of Geneva II is ouster of Al-Assad

The President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, Ahmad Al-Jarba, stressed on Saturday evening that the opposition’s sole aim behind participating in the Geneva II Conference is the ouster of Bashar Al-Assad. That, insisted Al-Jarba, would meet the demands of the “revolution in full”.

Speaking on live television in Istanbul, Al-Jarba said that the Geneva II negotiation table is a “one-way street” aimed at achieving all the demands of the revolution, without any compromise. “The first and foremost of these demands is stripping the butcher [Al-Assad] of all his powers, in preparation for justice by bringing him to account before God, history and man-made law.”
