Palestinian national reconciliation could be exploited to legitimise negotiations

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas could exploit the Palestinian national reconciliation in order to push for the continuation of negotiations and to implement US Secretary of State John Kerry’s schemes against the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian movement, Al-Ahrar (The Free), warned.

Al-Ahrar Movement issued a statement on Tuesday that was made available to Al Resalah in which it reasserted that it believes the negotiations are absurd and futile and did not benefit the Palestinian people at all. It said the talks only lead to more settlement expansion and Judaization.

“The negotiations only provide a cover for the occupation’s continuous crimes against the Palestinian people,” Al-Ahrar said in their statement. It stressed that and the occupation does not believe in making adjustments to restore to the Palestinian people their rights.

Al-Ahrar explained that the occupation wants the negotiations to impose de facto situations at the expense of the people’s fundamental rights.

They also added that the negotiators do not represent the people; they rather cling to the negotiations to satisfy the occupation and maintain their existence.

Al Ahrar called for Palestinian factions to speak up loudly and to address the concessions that negotiators make against the Palestinian people’s rights.

It pointed out that there is no point in talking about Palestinian national reconciliation or to believe in its genuineness while the Palestinian people continue to suffer as a result of the political arrests and the continuation of security coordination with the occupation.
