Ruling to dissolve Muslim Brotherhood adjourned to April

Egypt’s Administration Court today adjourned the ruling to dissolve the Muslim Brotherhood, closing all its offices, freezing its funds and confiscating assets. The new dates are now set for April 8 and 15, Egyptian media said.

The case was raised to the court by nine complaints against the group. The complaints said the group has been practicing social and political activities since the 1930s despite being banned for more than 60 years.

According to the complaints, in July 2002, an Egyptian law related to the work of non-government organisations (NGOs) was ratified. Based on that law, all NGOs, including the Muslim Brotherhood had to rearrange their positions and renew licenses to practice their activities.

All acting organisations, according to that law, have to take the form of an NGO; otherwise, they would be resolved.
