Anti-coup party: EU is legitimising Egyptian coup

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton is granting European legitimacy to the military coup in Egypt, a senior member of the Arab Unification Party said yesterday.

Ahmed Sadiq said in a press statement: “I do not welcome Ashton’s visit to Cairo. Her previous visits brought only massacres and repression to the Egyptian people.” He said the European Union’s racist policy paves the way to legitimise the coup in Egypt and makes it appear to be a democratic transition of power.

Sadiq warned the European Union of following the colonial era’s policy by encouraging oppression and tyranny in the old colonies to continue marketing its products and have access to a cheap source of raw materials for its industries.
