US Secretary of State John Kerry asked Gulf States to support efforts in the fight against terrorism in Iraq and Syria.
In calls with the foreign ministers of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan, Kerry discussed the “threat of ISIS” in the region.
Kerry affirmed in each call the necessity of supporting Iraq and Syria in order to fight the terrorists who present a threat to the region and the international community, first and foremost, the United States.
The Secretary of State discussed the need for Iraq’s political leaders to put their differences aside and work to strengthen national unity to help the country progress.
Kerry pledged continuous communication in the coming days with his Arab counterparts and others in the region in order to discuss ways of dealing with the current crisis in the region.
