“The Islamic Front fighters prevented the Syrian regime from besieging the city of Aleppo,” the group’s information officer said yesterday.
The Anadolu Agency reported Saleh Andani saying that battles raged between the Islamic Front fighters and Bashar Al-Assad’s forces backed by Shia gunmen from Afghanistan and Iran after they attempted to enter the area.
Andani pointed out that the Islamic Front forces attacked Al-Assad’s forces who were armed with light weapons and machine guns, noting that the armed opposition forces halted their progress.
Six opposition fighters were killed in the clashes.
