The Tunisian foreign ministry said yesterday that it did not have “detailed information” about the conditions, whereabouts or kidnappers of Tunisian journalists kidnapped in Libya, the Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement, the ministry said: “The crisis group stressed that despite all the efforts being exerted, it did not get a single piece of information about the journalists Sifyan Al-Shorabi and Natheer Al-Qitari.”
“The crisis group stressed that the Tunisian judiciary was commissioned to follow up the issue and an investigation into the issue was opened,” the statement said.
A week ago, Tunisian defence minister Ghazi Al-Jribi said information was received about the condition of the journalists in Libya and their whereabouts. He said that this information would be announced later.
Two weeks ago, a website affiliates with the Islamic State (ISIS) calling said two Tunisian journalists kidnapped last September were executed.
The two journalists were kidnapped in Libya when they were preparing a report for a Tunisian TV channel, where they had been working.
