643 deaths in Yemen in 19 days

Some 643 Yemenis have been killed since 19 March and 2,226 others were wounded, the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced yesterday.

In a statement, WHO said that Aden, the new Yemeni capital, has been witnessing fierce clashes and described the humanitarian situation as having deteriorated more than in other Yemeni cities.

The statement said that the situation is deteriorating more because of the electricity and water outages.

According to the statement, the number of deaths is increasing because of the shortage of medical supplies. The statement noted that instability in the country is stopping the arrival of assistance.
