Brigadier General Moni Katz, commander of the Israeli army’s Division 91, warned Lebanon’s Hezbollah against any future confrontation with Israel, saying that if war began “Lebanon will not only go back 30 years, it will return 200 years back”.
Katz threatened Lebanon saying that it will pay dearly in the next war which he claimed will be won by the country that is ready to make a lot of sacrifices.
Israel’s Walla news site quoted Katz as saying that another war with Lebanon is very likely, and that Israelis will be willing to make great sacrifices when they realise that there is no escape from it.
“I believe the army will have full authorisation to go into a long-term war and no Lebanese person will stand in our face,” he said.
The Israeli army sustained heavy material losses, at a cost of billions of dollars, during its war with Lebanon in 2006.
