Saudi Arabia has reinforced its land and sea borders with Yemen as the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm against Houthi rebels in Yemen enters its fourth week.
According to Al-Jazeera, the situation is calm along the kingdom’s southern border and coalition army and navy units have firm control over Yemen’s borders and ports. The Royal Saudi Navy is enforcing a blockade of the ports.
The channel reported that a number of Saudi navy vessels are also stationed in the Red Sea in full combat readiness. Several navy helicopters are stationed in bases along the border area waiting for orders to join the attack.
Coalition spokesman Ahmed Asiri said earlier that the Houthi rebels have tried to destabilise security on the border. Their movements are being monitored by Saudi border guards working with local tribesmen and militias.
