Saudi fears suspected Emirati role in Yemen

Reports have reveals that there is tension between Saudi Arabia and the UAE as a result of the crisis in Yemen. These reports noted that Riyadh is holding Abu Dhabi responsible for the deterioration of the situation in Yemen.

They also noted that the tension emerged due to the UAE’s insistence on providing refuge for their ally, deposed Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and listening to him.

According to the Fars News Agency, during their recent meeting, the Saudi Interior Minister Muhammad Bin Nayef asked Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed to end the UAE’s alliance with Ali Abdullah Saleh and his son Ahmad, who is Yemen’s ambassador to the UAE.

The news agency also reported that Saudi Arabia is accusing the UAE of trying to create a Yemeni leadership loyal to the Emirates by supporting the nomination of Ahmad Bin Ali Abdullah Saleh either as a sole president or as a member of a presidential council.

In the same context, tweets posted by the former chief of the Dubai Police Force Dhahi Khalfan Tamim have revealed the extent of the Emirates’ fear regarding the Saudi-Turkish alliance, especially after Riyadh announced the formation of an international alliance to launch Operation Storm of Resolve on Yemen.

Khalfan attacked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on several occasions, as well as the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party, which appears to be the alternative to the Houthi Ansar Allah movement, according to Fars.

The news agency also believes that Khalfan is considered the mouthpiece of the Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, and that he is actively promoting what pleases Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Twitter.
