Boat capsizes off Libyan coast, 700 migrants feared dead

Around 700 migrants are feared to be dead after a migrant boat capsized in the Mediterranean sea, in the the Strait of Sicily, between Italy and Libya, an Italian coast guard official has said on Sunday.

A massive rescue operation coordinated by the Italian coast guard is currently underway. Some 28 people have been rescued so far and 21 bodies have been recovered, coast guard officials said.

Search-and-rescue operations continue with air support. It is feared that close to 700 migrants have perished.
