Israeli Arab Knesset Member Talab Abu-Arrar yesterday called on the Israeli authorities to stop the policy of house demolitions of Arab homes, Qudsnet reported.
“The retention of the Israeli policy [regarding house demolitions] will lead the region to instability,” Abu-Arrar said, calling the policy “a cause for displacing Palestinians.”
He accused Israel of adopting a systematic method to deport Palestinians from their homeland. The Palestinians are the “indigenous owners of the land”.
Thousands of Arabs living in Israel gathered in Tel-Aviv’s Rabin Square yesterday evening to protest against the demolition policies in their towns. They also went on general strike.
They accused the Israeli government of razing their homes under the pretext of not having building licences and restricting construction despite the population boom.
Abu-Arrar called for the international community to protect the Arabs, stressing that the governments in Israel are run by “Zionist and extremist gangs”.
