Arab MKs disrupt Netanyahu’s speech and are removed from Knesset

Members of Knesset from the Joint Arab List disrupted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to present his new government ministers in protest against his politics and his speech.

In his speech, Netanyahu said: “We will safeguard our security and strive for peace,” which was interrupted by laughter and mockery from the MKs who called on Netanyahu to make peace with Likud’s Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, who was excluded from the new government due to the PM’s refusal to give him the foreign portfolio.

MK Masoud Ghanaim protested against Netanyahu’s policies, but the Speaker of the Knesset, Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, ordered security to escort the MK out. He later ordered the ejection of MK Jamal Zahalka, and the other Arab MKs followed.

During Netanyahu’s speech, the MK’s played an audio clip of Netanyahu’s speech on the Knesset elections day, in which he incited against the Arab citizens and electors and tried to motivate right-wing voters to support Likud.

After the audio clip of Netanyahu’s discriminatory speech was played, the MKs from the Arab Joint List walked out of the Knesset in protest, causing a ruckus.
