Deputy Iraqi President Iyad Allawi said yesterday that the reason which would lead to a political victory in Iraq is “still absent,” the Anadolu Agency reported.
In a televised speech, Allawi said: “The reason for a political victory is the unity of a political stance and political discourse for all the different parties, and mobilising all efforts for the battle.”
He added: “We have to setup multidimensional strategies which should lead to destroying terrorism and extremism and to a military victory at the end. This should coincide with the achievement of the political victory.”
This could be achieved, he said, “by returning the displaced Iraqis to their homes, paying compensation to them, and starting reconstruction and a thorough process of regaining trust.”
Allawi called for individual differences to be put aside and for all efforts to be mobilised in the battle against ISIS.
He called for the Popular Crowds (Al-Hashd Al-Sha’bi) and other volunteers to be ready for the liberation of Al-Anbar from ISIS.
ISIS recently took control of Al-Ramadi, the capital city of Al-Anbar governorate, and all the government facilities, including security bases.
