Iran to Saudi: Iranians’ patience has limits

Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, Mohsen Rezaee warned rival Saudi Arabia that his country’s patience has its limits especially under the current circumstances in the region.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported Rezaee as saying, during a ceremony to mark the liberation of Khorramshahr: “We do not want Saudi Arabia to return to pre-industrial era, but they should understand that the Iranian people’s patience in these circumstances has its own limits, and if the enemy wants to destabilise security in Iran and the region, our response will be grave.”

In his statement, Rezaee criticised the West and some regional countries which support terrorist practices in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

“Those who commit these massacres brag about respecting democracy, human rights and freedom, but we are seeing that they support the terrorists by sending them weapons and gear,” he said.

The former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards said: “We see the most corrupt and worst terrorists are backed by the West and have closer ties with it. Today we can see how the West and Israel support ISIS’s practices in the region.”

Rezaee stressed that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will never allow terrorists’ threats to reach the borders of Iran, saying: “What our people need in these circumstances is to preserve their security and stability”.

“We have to pay greater attention to the economy and culture, and in this area, the government, parliament and leadership are trying, through dialogue and advice, to extinguish the crisis in the region,” he added.
