The Muslim Brotherhood’s former senior international relations officer, who is living in exile in Switzerland, has said that he is ready to meet anyone who wants to save Egypt and is interested in doing good for the country, Anadolu reported on Friday. Yousef Nada made his appeal to “every loyal Egyptian who wants to save Egypt before it turns into a failing state or series of primitive mini-states clashing with each other.”
According to Nada, the current regime in Cairo is unable to deal with the dire economic situation despite grants, loans and deposits from other countries. “The situation is expected to explode again and the results will be destructive,” he said in a message on social network sites. “This will turn Egypt into a failing state,” he claimed, citing Libya, Iraq, Syria and Yemen as examples.
Nada warned of a starvation revolution against financial and political corruption, which is controlling the economy of the country and has also restricted civil freedoms. The armed forces, he said, are there to protect the country from external enemies. However, he pointed out that in Egypt they are being used to defend the government at the cost of the people. “Food is being denied to the people in order to develop the army,” he alleged.
Although he insisted that he is not saying that the Egyptian army is corrupt or not patriotic, some its senior officers are “virtually corrupt”, Nada said. “Sticking to legitimacy is just for protecting you [the army]… if there is anyone who wants to reorganise the situation in the country and regain the right of the people and their interests, there is no other legitimacy which could face him.”
