An Israeli court yesterday adjourned the trial of the Palestinian parliamentarian and Popular Front leader Khalida Jarrar, no new date has been set for her trial, Qudsnet reported.
The trial was adjourned to allow the defence lawyer, assigned by the Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association – Addameer, to appeal against the charges.
Addameer Lawyer Mahmoud Hassan said the Israeli military prosecution announced it would apply to keep some charges against Jarrar during the next hearing, adding that this is an exceptional measure.
EU and UN representatives and Arabic and international journalists attended Jarrar’s hearing.
Her two daughters, who are studying abroad, also visited her and hugged her for the first time since she was arrested on 2 April.
Jarrar was arrested at her home in the West Bank city of Ramallah, accused of being part of a banned group and taking part in several anti-Israeli activities such as protests, as well as supporting Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
