ISIS has banned the import or sale of Iranian goods in the Iraqi city of Mosul and other areas under the group’s control in Syria and Iraq, it has been reported by Anadolu news agency.

The group warned shops owners that they should sell all of the Iranian goods that they already have in stock, but should not replenish their supplies.

A staff member at Mosul Chamber of Commerce, Marwan Zidane, confirmed that ISIS has issued such a warning. “The group’s Calculations Department, which is responsible for following up with its laws, informed shops owners and traders to dispose all goods coming from Iran,” said Zidane. “It warned them not to buy other goods of Iranian origin in the future.”

The group also distributed flyers to locals warning them not to purchase Iranian goods, he explained. “However, Iranian dates continue to reach the city of Mosul via Syria, but we do not know how.”
