Former army chief of staff visits Saudi Arabia 'to discuss ousting Al-Sisi'

A reliable media source has claimed that Egypt’s former army chief of staff has visited Saudi Arabia to discuss ousting President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, PLS48.net reported on Tuesday. Prior to his meeting with Crown Prince Mohamed Bin-Nayef, it is believed that Lieutenant General Sami Annan performed the lesser pilgrimage in Makkah.

Annan’s visit to Saudi Arabia came days after the assassination of Egypt’s Attorney General in Cairo and a security shakeup in Sinai. The visit also coincided with rare anger at Al-Sisi among Egyptian army officers. According to Asrar Arabia website, this was why the officers held a war council meeting a couple of days ago chaired by Defence Minister Sidqi Sobhi but without Al-Sisi’s attendance.

Information about the ex-chief of staff’s visit was revealed after the Asrar Arabia report, which claimed that Sobhi had sent messages to several regional powers, including the Muslim Brotherhood, proposing a solution for Egypt’s current crisis, with himself to be part of it.

Asrar Arabia said that Annan’s trip to Saudi Arabia proves that preparations for a post-Sisi era have already started, noting that he has caused instability, chaos and loss of security in Egypt. Al-Sisi has also failed to achieve any political or economic development.
