July 23, 2015 at 9:51 am

The Turkish army has sent further reinforcements to the border with Syria due to the volatile situation on the frontier zone. Anadolu news agency reported on Wednesday that troops from the Fifth Armoured Brigade based in the Turkish state of Gaziantep have arrived along the border in Kilis.

The reinforcements include a convoy of military vehicles which have joined the existing units stationed in the Kilis area. According to Anadolu, the recent clashes across the border have died down and there is calm at the moment.

In the past few weeks the Turkish army has deployed tanks, armoured personnel carriers and air-defence systems, as well as infantry, along the border with Syria.
