More prisoners held in Israeli jails to join hunger strike

More prisoners are to join the hunger strike in Israeli jails, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Front Ahmed Sa’adat said, calling for a halt in the Israeli aggression, Felesteen newspaper reported yesterday.

During a visit of his lawyer in the Israeli Nafha Prison, Sa’adat said this was in protest against the escalation in the Israeli aggression against prisoners, including solitary confinement, inspections, the storming of the prisons at night, transferring prisoners from prison to prison for no reason and approving new laws against prisoners.

Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) has said that the arbitrary transfer of prisoners and aggression against them in order to damage their properties are aimed at inflicting suffering on them.

The PPS said that 120 prisoners started their hunger strike on 5 August and another group of prisoners joined them making the total number of prisoners taking part 148.
