Israel demolishes Palestinian-owned commercial building in north Jerusalem

August 12, 2015 at 2:00 pm

Israeli machinery demolished on Tuesday a three-floor commercial building in Atarot, in the north of Jerusalem, under the pretext that the building had been constructed without a license.

Eyewitnesses told Quds Press that Israeli forces stormed Share’ Al-Jarida in Atourt at 5 am and started demolishing the 220m2 building that comprises commercial offices.

The witnesses noted that the building is owned by Mazen Abu Diab and his sons.

Although two of the building’s three floors were licensed, the entire building was demolished.

In July, Israeli forces demolished an entire industrial area in Beit Hanina; the area included a printing house, a carpentry shop, a painting shop and a wedding hall. All were demolished under the pretext of not having a license, although they constituted a source of income for several Palestinian families.
