Israel to destroy natural reserve in northern West Bank

Israeli occupation authorities have notified the the West Bank city of Tubas of their intention to raze the city’s Enoun natural reserve to the ground, Quds Press has reported.

Local Palestinian sources said that the Israeli authorities plan to destroy the Palestinian natural reserve under the pretext of it being situated in a closed military zone.

The head of Al-Maleh local council, Aref Daraghmeh, said that this is not the first time that Israeli authorities have demolished this natural reserve.

He affirmed that occupation forces previously uprooted thousands of trees in the reserve and confiscated equipment used to irrigate the area.

Daraghmeh added that this natural reserve is part of Palestinian efforts to turn disused Palestinian land into green areas planted with thousands of trees, but that Israeli authorities always seek to undermine such projects under the pretext of military training.
