The Israeli army has intensified its security surveillance over its gas fields off the Mediterranean Sea, Israel Radio said yesterday.
Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy, Vice Admiral Ram Rothberg said: “The surveillance will be from the air and underwater through sophisticated equipment that is capable of sensing any abnormal movement.”
“The goal of the surveillance is to protect the gas field which could be a target for terrorists, so we have to put them under permanent surveillance,” he said, adding “now we are working on the development of new weapons and missiles which would strengthen our monitoring systems.”
