Kuwait sentences 7 to death for Shia mosque bombing

A criminal court in Kuwait sentenced seven people to death today for a June attack on a Shia mosque in which 27 people were killed; judicial sources have told the Anadolu Agency.

According to the sources, eight others were given prison terms of between two and 15 years each, while another 14 defendants were acquitted.

Those acquitted included Fahd Farraj, known for being a leading member of the Daesh militant group in Kuwait, the same sources explained.

On 26 June, a suicide bomber blew himself up inside Kuwait City’s Imam Sadiq Mosque during Friday prayers, leaving 27 people dead.
