Arab foreign ministers will meet tomorrow or on Thursday to discuss the “next steps in the Arab plan towards Israel’s grave violations in the occupied Palestinian territories”, the Arab League Council said.

According to the Egyptian news agency, an official diplomatic source said that the Arab League Council, during its meeting yesterday, addressed an invitation calling for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers this week to discuss the next Arab action in the face of the grave Israeli violations in the Palestinian territories, and to follow up on the decisions related to providing international protection for Palestinians.

“Consultations are underway for holding the ministerial meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States’ General Secretariat in Cairo, on Wednesday or Thursday,” the source said on condition of anonymity.

An Arab League statement, made available to Anadolu, said that the Arab League Council discussed yesterday the results of the recent visit of the League’s Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby to the United Nations to discuss the Palestinian issue and the efforts to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.

Since the first of October, the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip have been witnessing clashes between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces. The clashes broke out as a result of Jewish settlers’ storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli army and police.
