The corpses of 40 migrants have been found off the Libyan coast, AFP reported the spokesperson of the International Organisation for Immigration (IOM) saying yesterday.
The bodies may be of victims of a migrant boat which capsized last week in the Mediterranean, the spokesperson said.
According to the IOM, this brings the number of the people who have drowned in the Mediterranean since the beginning of 2015 to 3,175. Adding that the death toll is already higher than it was in 2014.
The spokesperson said the migrants might have been heading to Italy and Greece, but he said that he had no information about when they died.
