There were 89 cases of Israeli aggression against journalists in the occupied Palestinian territories in October, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Salama Ma’rouf, spokesman of the Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza, told a press conference in Gaza that his office had issued a detailed report documenting these aggressions titled “Journalists under Fire”.

He said that in addition to the 89 aggressions against the journalists, the GMO documented incitement against the Palestinian mass media and journalists either directly by sending warnings to them or via the Israeli media.

Ma’rouf said that the aggressions were “premeditated” as journalists wear special uniforms which clearly show they are journalists.

The Palestinian official called on the Committee to Protect Journalists, Journalists without Borders and International Federation of Journalists to protect journalists working in the Palestinian territories.

He also called on the Council of Arab Information Ministers to keep up with the situation in the Palestinian territories, support the Palestinian Intifada and adopt the Palestinian narrative for the incidents.
