November 3, 2015 at 1:59 pm

Six fighters belonging to Lebanon’s Hezbollah Shia militia have been killed during fighting in Syria, Al-Khaleejonline has reported. According to Al-Jazeera news channel, the death toll of Hezbollah fighters who have been killed since the beginning of the Russian intervention in Syria on 30 September now stands at 32.

Websites close to Hezbollah confirmed the killing of the six fighters, saying that they were killed while carrying out their “sacred duty”. The group has not revealed the total number of its fighters lost in Syria, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that it is now more than 900.

Hezbollah has been fighting alongside troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Its opponents have condemned its intervention in Syria due to the security implications this has for Lebanon.
