Israeli occupation forces have shot and killed a Palestinian woman near the West Bank city of Qalqilya, Safa news agency reported this morning.

Palestinian sources identified the lady as 23-year-old Rasha Mohamed Ewissi.

Is this the Third Intifada?

Rising tensions in the Occupied Territories have led to dozens of deaths and hundreds of clashes.
Are we witnessing the Third Intifada?

According to the Israeli media, the IDF’s military spokesman claimed that Ewissi attempted to stab Israeli soldiers at the Alyahu military checkpoint.

The spokesman said that Israeli soldiers asked Ewissi to stop moving towards them, but she refused and took a knife out of her pocket; so they shot her.

However, Palestinian witnesses said that Ewissi was shot while she was clearly far from the soldiers. They also denied that she had a knife in her possession.

Ewissi’s death marks the 77th Palestinian civilian to be killed since the unrest began in early October. The majority of these individuals were shot dead by Israeli forces in alleged knife attacks.
