Iran starts dismantling 10,000 centrifuges

Iran has started dismantling 10,000 inactive centrifuges in Natanz enrichment facility based on the nuclear deal with the P5+1 countries, Alamatonline.com reported yesterday.

Iran has about 19,000 centrifuges; however the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation Ali Akbar Salehi said that these centrifuges were not active, local media reported.

Salehi said that slowing down the dismantling of the centrifuges is a waste of time and this would delay lifting the sanctions on the country. He noted that the disassembling started two weeks ago and is continuous.

To downplay the fears of tens of Iranian MPs, who asked for the process to be slowed, Salehi said that dismantling these centrifuges takes one month and reassembling them takes only two.
