Report: 1.5 million job seekers in Saudi Arabia

As many as 1.54 million Saudi Arabians are believed to be looking for work in various areas of Saudi Arabia, a new report has revealed.

The report, prepared by the Human Resources Development Fund Hadaf, indicates that the number of jobs advertised by the private sector in the Gulf Kingdom in all areas amounts to only 561.

According to the report, the Riyadh region topped the list of job seekers with nearly 300,000 unemployed citizens, followed by Makkah with 286,000 job seekers and the Eastern region with nearly 231,000 job seekers.

The number of unemployed citizens with university degrees in the country amounts to 357,600 people, representing about 23 per cent of the total job seekers, while the number of job seekers with higher education degrees amounts to nearly 20,000 citizens in the Riyadh region, and 470,000 in Makkah.
