The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported yesterday that Daesh forces managed to regain control of areas in the south-eastern countryside of Homs in Syria.

The human rights group said in a statement that regime forces shelled areas in the vicinity of Huwwarin and the town of Maheen in the south-eastern countryside of Homs amid clashes between regime forces and Daesh militiamen, who managed to advance and regain control of areas around the town.

“There were renewed violent clashes between the rebel and Islamist factions against regime forces and allied militiamen on the road to the town of Al-Sam’il in the northern countryside of Homs, while regime forces continue their attempts to advance and retake the town of Mahin southeast of Homs, where the clashes with [Daesh] were accompanied by aerial bombardment by suspected Russian warplanes,” the Observatory said.

The group explained that regime forces shelled areas around the towns of Talbeseh, Sokhna and Rahoom near Homs.

No casualties have been reported.
