Turkey is building a high level concrete security wall along its border with Syria in the area under Daesh control.
The 3.6 metre high wall will be built along an 82 kilometre stretch of Turkey’s border with Syria and will be equipped with high level security cameras and lighting systems.
In July, Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc announced a “renewed effort” to “avoid the entry of terrorists and the foreign fighters and to ease humanitarian passages.”
“A physical security system will be established along the border,” Arinc said.
“The critical issue here is preventing the entry of terrorists into Turkey and taking physical measures along the border against the Daesh threat,” he told Turkey’s Anadolu Agency at the time.
In the meantime, Turkish troops which closely monitor developments in the city of Jarabulus, north-east of Syria’s Aleppo which is under Daesh control, are reported to have deployed tanks and armoured vehicles along the border.
