Abbas in Riyadh for discussions with Saudi monarch

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has had a meeting in Riyadh with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the official Saudi news agency reported on Wednesday. Details of the PA president’s arrival in Riyadh early on Wednesday were not disclosed in advance.

The current situation in Palestine was on the agenda for the two leaders to discuss, as were possible areas for cooperation between the two states.

Abbas presented King Salman with the “Grand Collar of the Order of the State of Palestine” in honour of his efforts in serving the Palestinian cause.

Abbas’ visit comes just a day after Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz.
