Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani yesterday started a two-day visit to the Syrian capital Damascus after being invited by his Syrian counterpart Mohamed Al-Shaar, the Iranian news agency reported.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and implement the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the two countries’ interior ministries.
In June, Syria’s interior minister visited Tehran where he met with his Iranian counterpart and a number of senior Iranian officials and signed an MOU in the field of security and police cooperation and fighting organised crime, terror and drug smuggling.
