Biden criticises Palestinian leadership for not condemning recent attacks

US Vice President Joe Biden implicitly criticised the Palestinian leadership on Wednesday for a “failure to condemn” attacks against Israelis, after a string of stabbing and shooting attacks occurred as he arrived in Israel.

“The United States of America condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts,” Biden said after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The kind of violence we saw yesterday, the failure to condemn it, the rhetoric that incites that violence, the retribution that it generates, has to stop,” he added.

Biden will travel to Ramallah in the West Bank later on Wednesday to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

There were six separate attacks before and after Biden’s arrival on Tuesday, including an attack which killed an American tourist.
