In a speech at the fourth annual Sulaimani Forum, organised by the American University of Iraq, Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL Brett McGurk also praised the role that has been played by the Peshmerga forces so far.
The forum was attended by 700 personalities from Iraq and other countries; they gathered to discuss security, political and economic conditions and their impact on Iraq and the region.
McGurk added that the coalition owes it to the Peshmerga fighters’ role in the war waged against Daesh, promising cooperation with them.
McGurk pointed out that the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army have played a major role in the fight against Daesh, noting that 40 per cent of the areas that were under Daesh control have been restored.
