The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia called on Monday for Arab and Islamic communities to unite their efforts and provide urgent humanitarian aid to besieged Iraqis in Fallujah, AlKhaleejonline.com reported.
The council said in a statement that while efforts were being focused on fighting Daesh, the tragedy in Fallujah is being ignored.
“Muslims are brothers at all times and under all circumstances,” the statement added.
Residents of Fallujah called for humanitarian aid last week as several residents starved to death. Local sources reported that five people starved to death last week alone.
Fallujah has been under a siege enforced by the Iraqi army since early 2014 when Daesh seized the city.
