Syrian regime and Russia strike areas controlled by opposition

Air strikes believed to have been carried out by the Syrian regime and Russian forces targeted areas controlled by the opposition in Aleppo on Friday. At least 10 civilians were killed and 30 more were wounded, reported Safa news agency.

Medical sources to the east of Idlib said that a woman and three of her children were killed in the village of Abu-Khos after their home was targeted. The attack completely destroyed the building.

Meanwhile, Al-Islam Army, one of the opposition groups, announced that it downed a regime air force jet in Beir Al-Qassab near Al-Ghota. However, other sources claim that the Mig23 was probably brought down by a technical fault.

According to Syria Mubashir news network, though, Daesh reports mentioned the launch of anti-aircraft missiles which hit the Mig, but added that no official confirmation was provided, and no official claim of responsibility has been made.

Last week, Daesh announced that it had downed a regime aircraft after it was targeted by an anti-aircraft missile. The pilot survived, said the group, and ejected in an area controlled by Damascus. In October, the extremists claimed that they had destroyed 68 aircraft over the previous six months in Iraq, Libya and Syria.
