Syrian rockets wound 16 residents in Turkish city

Sixteen people were injured in Kilis, a Turkish city close to the Syrian border, on Sunday when rockets landed in a residential area, according to officials.

The casualties were caused by two rockets, the governor’s office said in an online statement, adding that the casualties were 10 Turkish nationals and six Syrians.

A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said the rockets landed in the Okcular neighbourhood.

Kilis lies 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the Syrian border and has been repeatedly hit by rockets fired from Daesh-controlled territory in Syria. Eight have been killed in the city by rockets since Monday.
