Member of the Fatah Central Committee Azzam Al-Ahmad yesterday briefed European lawmakers on the current developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, especially international efforts to resume the peace process.
Al-Ahmad, who is also the head of the reconciliation file, told the Anadolu Agency after a meeting with EU lawmakers in Brussels, that he had discussed Israeli escalations against Palestinians and settler attacks against Muslim holy sites particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Chair of the Confederal Group of the European United Left – Nordic Green Left, Gabriele Zimmer, said that talks with Al-Ahmad included ways to end internal Palestinian divisions which will be a critical factor in obtaining European support for efforts to hold an international conference to support the Palestinian people and hold legislative and presidential elections.
