Fatah reveals trilateral summit with Cyprus

Member of Fatah’s Central Committee and Commissioner of International Relations Nabil Shaath has revealed a Cypriot proposal for a trilateral summit with the Palestinian Authority and Greece, QudsNet reported yesterday.

In a press conference at the end of his visit to Cyprus, Shaath revealed the proposal, but gave no details regarding when the conference would take place.

However, he reiterated that the Greek and Cypriot positions towards the Palestinian issue are “still unwavering” and sent a message of “assurance” that the two countries are still supporting the Palestinian cause. He also announced the renewal of political and economic ties with both countries.

“After a series of long meetings with Cypriot officials and party leaders,” Shaath said, “we are sure that the historical and strategic relations between the Palestinian and the Cypriot nations and their causes are continuous, developing and renewable.”

Yesterday, Shaath met with a number of party leaders in Cyprus. They reiterated that their political and ideological positon towards the Palestinian cause are strong, adding that they support the Palestinians’ right to fight for and achieve their independence and establish their state.
