Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said on Monday that the security cooperation with Israel is continuous despite a recent PLO decision to suspend it, AlKhaleejonline.com reported.
In a press conference held in Ramallah, he reiterated that there was a decision to suspend security cooperation and noted that there are ongoing efforts to put the mechanisms in place to carry this out, but “nothing has changed yet” and there is also no deadline for the implementation of the decision.
On 4 May, the PLO decided to immediately suspend security cooperation and announced that the nature of future ties with Israel would be reconsidered.
According to a statement, the decision came as a result of Israel’s failure to adhere to already signed agreements and its rejection of a recent French peace initiative.
Hamdallah said that six security meetings were held over the past weeks during which PA security officials asked Israel to stop raiding Area A, but they refused.
He said that the government is waiting the mechanisms to stop the security cooperation. He also denied accusations of corruption among officials in his government.
