Palestinian mosques targeted before and after establishment of Israel

Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, deputy head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, has said that mosques and Islamic sites have been intentionally targeted by “Zionist gangs” before and after the establishment of Israel, Felesteen newspaper reported

“Mosques are the most prominent signs of the Islamic identity of Palestine,” Al-Khatib said, adding that because of this many were demolished, with some even being turned into bars.

He also said that Israel turned many mosques and holy sites, including cemeteries, into public parks, malls and other facilities.

Al-Khatib mentioned what is going on in Al-Aqsa Mosque as a “live example” of this. He also said Israel destroyed tens of mosques in Gaza and added that this is proof that mosques have been internationally targeted.

“None of the world’s countries change holy sites to other facilities except Israel,” he said, stressing that Israel often claims Islamic sites represent Jewish histomosqury.
