Palestinian academic: PLO dropped Palestinian right of return

Palestinian Professor Abdul-Sattar Qasim has ridiculed the West Bank leadership’s commemoration of the Nakba because of their concession of the Palestinian right of return, Quds Press reported on Tuesday.

“The Palestinian leadership has recognised Israel and dropped the right to return,” he said. “Therefore, commemoration of the Nakba anniversary is just a kind of a seasonal fashion for political and media show off.”

“Those in the West Bank who call for the organisation of such events are not credible because they themselves dropped the right to return,” he said, noting that this concession is represented in the PLO decision to recognise Israel In 1988.

He added that the Palestinians failed to internationalise the Nakba because the official Palestinian media is not interested in this.

Qasim stressed that the Palestinian Nakba would continue until the Palestinians become stronger and drop the Oslo agreement.
