Extremist settlers storm Al-Aqsa

May 26, 2016 at 11:21 am

Groups of extremist Jewish settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday calling for more intrusions on the anniversary of the 1967 occupation of the area, Jordan’s Assabeel newspaper reported.

Palestinian worshipers and students in the mosque’s courtyard tried to stop the settlers desecrating the area but settlers were being protected by the Israeli police.

The IDs of Palestinian worshipers were seized upon their entry to the mosque in order to restrict their movement.

Meanwhile, settlers called for storming Al-Aqsa Mosque in large numbers on the anniversary of the Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem where the mosque is located. They called for the unification of the city, considering it the capital of Israel.

Israeli Jewish gangs occupied the western side of the city in 1948, when they announced the establishment of the Jewish state. On 5 June 1967, Israel occupied the eastern side of the city.
