Yemeni government: No compromise on minister’s release

The Yemeni government will not compromise on the release of ministers and detainees held by the Houthis, the country’s prime minister said yesterday.

Ahmed Obaid Bin Dagher said: “The release of General Subaihi, Major General Faisal Rajab and the brother of the Yemeni president Major General Nasser Mansour Hadi, as well as all detainees in militia prisons, is an issue that we will not compromise on.”

He added that the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216 requires the Houthis and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh to release the minister and all detainees.
